Traveling and Visiting Williamsburg on a Budget

Exotic places and destinations are far out of the reach for many and their budgets. There are alternatives. One of which is the historic town of Williamsburg, Virginia. A destination resort that offers a lot for very little.

A great place to start processing all that Williamsburg has to offer to a visitor on any budget is the Yorktown Victory Center. Get a museum-like overview of all the history for which the area provided scenery.

Recreations and artifacts-plus strolling, costumed tour guides!-paint a true picture of what early American life was like during the Revolution.

Make your travel budget stretch with tickets to the Yorktown Battlefield. Tickets cost $10 per adult; youth under age 16 are free. With that ticket, you will also be admitted to Historic Jamestown for up to a week after you buy your ticket.

On the historic battlefield where Cornwallis surrendered to Washington's army, you can see firsthand the turn of the American Revolution's victory.

The nearby historic town started with only a few dozen people before shiploads of new settlers moved in. When you're visiting Williamsburg, there are countless streets you can stroll to feel immersed in the rich history of our nation's origins, and this area is no exception. Be sure to get around by taking the free trolley, though it's closed in the winter.

Enjoy excellent people-watching at Merchants Square. You could spend a whole day strolling the shops and finding the best place to eat for your limited budget. Riverwalk Landing is a mile-long of sidewalk with fun entertainment and great views of the York River.

Whether you are watching boats go by from a bench or lying in the grass while a local band entertains, it is a great place to spend a sunny day. In the winter, there are special festivals of music, too.

Enjoy the beautiful Virginian countryside at Freedom Park, home to the first Free Black settlement in the country, as well as a famous battle. New Quarter park is over 500 acres of trails for hiking and biking, as well as calm water for great fishing.

When you're looking to save a buck, the Prime Outlets are a great place to shop. Bring home souvenirs with brand names you trust instead of expensive boutique merchandise. Everyone deserves a vacation. Williamsburg Virginia is a perfect choice for those of you on a tight budget.
